The H. Cooper Black Jr. Memorial Field Trial and Recreation Area covers 7,000 rolling acres of longleaf pine forest and fields. The park is a treasure for equestrian activities with over 20 miles of trails (see a pdf map of the park)on the property that connect to over 100 miles of the Patsy Gowen Endurance Horse trail network.
This park hosts the annual Sandhills Stampede Endurance Ride. The endurance ride offers both a limited distance (30 mile) and a full endurance length (55 miles) competition.
In addition to miles and miles of trails, the park's facilities include stables, kennels, corrals, arenas, waterfowl ponds, campgrounds and a kitchen/meeting hall.
