Our new "girls" have arrived.  26  laying hen chicks were waiting for me at the Pittsboro post office this morning!

There is almost nothing cuter than chicks.  They run around pecking and peeping, as exited as can be until they just run out of energy and conk out in mid-peep or mid-leap.  They snooze for a few seconds and then they're up and at 'em again!

For their first few days here, we keep them inside and make sure that they have a heat lamp shining on them to keep them toasty.

Chicks grow up so fast--in five months, they'll be adults.  I make sure to enjoy their "chicky" exuberance as much as I can while they are still young.
